General construction: The Baltimore was originally built to Treaty rules, but it is also legal in several other formats so check your rules. The overall length is 56”. There is 1 7/8” of hard area in the bow, and 1” of hard area in the stern. There are 22 additional 1/4” ribs spaced at least 2” apart (2.25” center-to-center) Overall hard area is 8.375”, for a 14.95% fill. The sub-deck thickness is 1/4”, with an expectation that the builder will add a 1/8” deck for a total deck thickness of 3/8”. The bottom of the vulnerable window is set at 1” below the waterline (assuming at least 11 pounds displacement) and at the 45 degree turn of the bilge where there is less than one inch available. The rudder area is 3.0 sqin, about 12.5% greater than scale. Check out the manual and plans for more information.
