YTB-142 “Nokomis” Tugboat |
|
The Nokomis is a Woban class district tug. The original tug was 100’ long but the model is just 8.3 inches long and 3.9 oz total weight in 144:1 scale. The tug was made from a homemade fiberglass hull and includes rudder control, a brushless motor, and a 300 mAh LiPo battery. It performs well, able to (slowly) pull an 11 pound ship model and turn itself within two ship lengths. CAD Plans (right-click link and select “Save Target As”) |

The superstructure becomes a recovery float in case it sinks, with a small winch hidden inside to spool the recovery line on. A single super magnet holds the deck on. |
